Halo engagement rings feature a centre-stone diamond that is completely encircled by smaller shimmering accent diamonds. They create incredible sparkle as the many smaller accent diamonds in the halo reflect light back onto the centrepiece diamond.

Popularised in the Art Deco era of the 1920’s, halo engagement rings have made a massive resurgence of late. They are popular because the halo of accent diamonds gives the illusion of the centrepiece diamond appearing to be bigger than it actually is. Halo diamond rings are therefore a good option for adding carat weight to your ring in a cost-effective way. Adding lots of smaller accent diamonds will be far cheaper than increasing the carat weight of your centrepiece diamond.

When it comes to halo diamond rings, you have plenty of options. You can get round brilliant cut diamond halo rings, princess cut diamond halo rings, cushion cut diamond halo rings, emerald cut diamond halo rings, and pear shaped diamond halo rings. With halo diamond engagement rings, you have near-unlimited options to customise the ring with accent diamonds in any way you choose.

Many halo rings also have accent diamonds that sit within the metal band to add additional sparkle and shine. Pave or channel set diamond bands are the perfect complement to a halo-set center-stone diamond. Halo engagement rings are also incredibly versatile, in that any diamond shape can be used for a halo setting. The accent diamonds are almost always made up of small round brilliant diamonds.

A halo engagement ring is a good option if colours and contrasts are important to you. They will allow you to incorporate other gemstones or fancy colour diamonds, or you can use different metals like yellow gold or rose gold to create a distinctive ring that’s customised just for you. Whilst the classic choice for halo engagement rings is platinum or white gold, many are choosing to favour yellow gold too, as it downplays any yellow ‘tint’ in your centrepiece diamond.

Halo settings are also functional in that they help protect your centrepiece diamond. If you go for a diamond shape with edges or points, this becomes especially important. Protecting the centre-stone diamond with an encircling of smaller accent diamonds will reduce the likelihood of edges or tips of your centrepiece diamond chipping.

No matter what your budget, halo rings maximise your bang for buck with a stunning engagement ring that will have all eyeballs drawn to your sparkling centrepiece stone.
